How to Setup a localhost environment on your windows PC or Laptop

Search for Wamp and go to www.wampserver.com

CliClick ‘start using wampserver’

Click ‘you can download it directly’

Choose whether your PC is 64 bit or 32 bit

Click green button to start wampserver download
Download quick link: https://sourceforge.net/projects/wampserver/files/

Go to www.wordpress.org

Click on ‘WordPress is also available in English (UK)’ button

Choose ‘download and install’

WordPress installation instructions.

WordPress should now download

Once downloaded unzip WordPress files

Go to your WordPress unzipped file and select all folders ctrl A and then ctrl C to copy all

Install Wampserver on your PC (run the programme you previously downloaded in steps 1 to 5 ) use the recommended installation folder which is typically C: > wamp64 > www. Now go to the ‘www’ folder and create a new folder (for this tutorial ours is called wamp-example) paste your copied WordPress files into the wamp-example folder. Tip: Don’t install WordPress folder do as image above.

Start Wampserver if its not already running, click on local-server running in tray (it may be hidden) now click phpMyAdmin

Start Wampserver – username – root and leave password blank, hit ‘go’

In this screen click on databases tab

Type in your database name, this should be the same as the folder you created in step 13 – residing in folder wamp64 > www

Open your preferred web browser and in the address bar enter localhost/wamp-example (replace wamp-example with your database name if different) hit enter and you should see the below screen…
Now click Let’s go! button

Enter your Database name: if different your Username: root Password: blank Database Host: localhost TablePrefix: wp_
Now click Submit button
